Do you want to enjoy a crisp, cold beer without the alcohol? In this post, I taste Beck’s non-alcoholic beer and provide some notes. Plus, I have included a summary of user reviews and compared Beck’s with other popular non-alcoholic beers in the same category, so you can decide whether or not this is the right NA beer for you.

Bottom line: If you’d like the short answer, I can’t recommend it.  To me, Beck’s non-alcoholic beer tastes like beer and spoiled fruit were soaked together.

However, it is affordable and easy to find, in case you are still interested in trying it.

Beck’s the Brand

Founded in 1873, Beck’s is a German brewery that produces both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beers. Their NA beer is available in over 60 countries, making it one of the most widely distributed NA products on the market. Beck’s is owned by parent company Anheuser-Busch, or AB inBev, who owns quite a few other breweries that also produce more na beers. There is also a US-based Beck’s in Missouri.

Becks Non-Alcoholic Beer: Tasting

Full disclosure: this is not the style of beer that I prefer, so I will give you the facts and let you decide for yourself if this fits your taste preferences.

How it tastes: Beck’s Non-Alcoholic smells slightly bitter but has a flavor I can only describe as the sweetness of spoiled fruit. While I didn’t expect much, this was even worse than I thought it would be. I am truly sorry I ever tasted this, but I did it for you. You’re welcome.

How it’s made: Before alcohol can be produced, Beck’s brewmasters stop the fermentation process to avoid creating alcohol. Lots of non-alcoholic craft beers are made like this, attempting to build up the flavors, rather than risk removing them with the alcohol later.

Beck’s NA vs Other Popular Non-Alcoholic Beers

When comparing Beck’s with other na beers, I stuck to some in the same category, and will save na craft beer for another day.

Compared to O’doul’s Golden and Budweiser Zero beers, Beck’s doesn’t stand a chance. Of the three, Budweiser Zero is hands-down the best. It’s crisp and refreshing, two words I would not use to describe Beck’s Non-Alcoholic Beer.

Conclusion

If you’re looking for an inexpensive non-alcoholic beer, Beck’s might work for you. I prefer craft beers and IPA and don’t think it’s even high on the list of the other big brands’ non-alcoholic beer in terms of flavor. After I tasted this myself, I was surprised to find so many positive reviews, but that just proves that taste is subjective.
